Obama’s 2012 National Platform shows commitment to UN process

President Obama’s Party has released the 2012 National Platform document which reaffirms support to the UN climate change process. The report references the U.N climate talks in Copenhagen, Cancun, and Durban and states that climate change policy will continue to feature prominently in the Obama administration.

  • The U.S Democratic Party has realeased a report that outlines it's policies ahead of November’s election and climate change is high on the agenda. President Obama’s Party has released the 2012 National Platform document which reaffirms support to the UN climate change process. The report references the U.N climate talks in Copenhagen, Cancun, and Durban and states that climate change policy will continue to feature prominently in the Obama administration.

There have been reports that that the U.S has reneged on previous agreements and has slowed down the current process after they requested that a newly proposed deal, reached at this months meetings in Bangkok, should not be binding.

The National Platform report refers to the threat of climate change as "urgent and severe" and it is hoped the U.S's involvement in current negotiations will prove effective at providing actionable legislation.
