New sustainable sports arena to be built in Oslo

Sustainable building company NCC will build the new Nye Jordal Amfi sports arena in the capital of Norway, Oslo.

Jordal Amfi, an Olympic Stadium built in 1952 is one of the most famous sport arenas in the country.

Marianne Brudevold Eek, Head of Department, NCC Civil Engineering, Infrastructure in Norway said: “We are very pleased to have been awarded the contract to construct a new sports arena in the City of Oslo, and we are looking forward to starting the project.”

The construction process, for the new arena will be carbon neutral, according to NCC’s sustainability principles.

Marianne Brudevold Eek added: “At NCC, we have made substantial progress in the ‘green shift’ and can offer private and public developers a number of sustainable solutions and certifications.”

The building company has also built other sports infrastructure in the area such as Bislett Stadion, Oslo Spektrum and Telenor Arena.

The new arena will be an ice hockey infrastructure for elite and recreational sports in Oslo, as well as for sports and public events and will have restaurants, cafes and conference facilities.
