In the run-up to the twentieth conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) a key report has been issued on how technology is central to climate change adaptation.

The study focuses on the activities and functions of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN).

In TEC’s and CTCN’s joint key message for the COP, they highlight the necessity for a secure financial support in order to lead an effective operation.

They also state that the Technology Mechanism is "fully operational and fulfilling its mandate". In the study, TEC proposes innovative ideas on technology assessment, climate technology financing and technologies for adaptation.

The study highlights the importance of including all stakeholders, such as experts, local communities and relevant institutions in the debate.

CTCN has organised a sequence of training workshops to support the national designated bodies in adopting the proposals and developing the appropriate technology.

According to CTCN the workshops will improve knowledge and understanding of the issues and will provide technical assistance.

The CTCN is also constructing a knowledge management system which is also presented in the report, as a method of streaming knowledge-sharing and making information accessible.
