ICT industry at a glance

OFFICEThe ICT industry has the potential for significant climate change mitigation through teleworking and video conferencing and greater building efficiencies. On the other hand, it has also been seen as an industry with the potential to accelerate rampant resource consumption through high tech consumer and business product development. The ICT industry’s challenge may well be to demonstrate that while energy consumption has increased through the development of new products, efficiency improvements through new technologies more than offset the energy use needed to power them.
