Climate Action - Assisting business towards carbon neutrality

Making the UN Sustainable - track the progress

Published on 08 April 2008
As the United Nations designated entity for addressing environmental issues, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s Division of Technology Industry and Economics (DTIE) has newly established the Sustainable United Nations (SUN) facility to support United Nations and other agencies in their efforts to manage their operations sustainably, including making them climate neutral. Niclas Svenningsen, Head of SUN will be sharing details in the monthly Climate Action e-bulletins on their progress with a view to keeping you updated and sharing tips to help organisations along a similar route. What targets are being established, what challenges does the UN system face in becoming climate neutral and what are the specific steps being implemented.

Having been established at the beginning of 2008, SUN is currently building the action plan, setting the targets and developing the methodologies and tools to ensure they reach their goals. Watch this space as the methodologies develop into actions.
