London, 3 March 2016 – Climate Action announced on Thursday the first innovative private sector organisations involved with the Sustainable Innovation Expo (SIE), an Exhibition and Business Symposia taking place within the second United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi this May. SIE will highlight the critical role of business in fostering sustainable solutions, innovation, employment and economic development to drive the 2030 Agenda.

Leading Indian organisation Kirin Global (www.geocement.in), will join SIE to showcase its Geocement technology, a proprietory liquid Geobinder made from various industrial by-products. This environmentally friendly innovation serves to reduce CO2 emissions by preventing the dumping of waste products, and using these by-products in place of normal cement and aggregates.

Platinum sponsor of SIE Carbon Wealth (www.skymining.com) is the inventor of SkyMining®, the process of literally mining pure carbon straight out of the atmosphere, and turning that carbon into a clean and renewable fuel that can replace fossil fuels and charcoal all over the world. With SkyMining®, any company, organisation or individual can turn its CO2 emissions into a clean, renewable and profitable fuel – thereby turning emissions into cash.

Founded in 2010 by a team of ex-NASA scientists, Planet Labs (www.planet.com) operates the largest ever fleet of earth-imaging satellites. The frequent, broad-coverage imagery supports humanitarian, environmental, and business needs. With applications in agriculture, energy and infrastructure, forestry and more, this technology is at the forefront of enabling sustainable decisions for urban growth, tracking carbon emissions and spotting illegal activities.

This select group of clean technology companies will showcase their green innovations to Heads of State, Ministers of environment, water and energy, heads of UN agencies, heads of development banks, heads of delegations, and ambassadors at the second session of the UNEA, under the overarching theme of delivering on the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Assembly, which represents the world’s highest-level decision-making body on the environment, will culminate in resolutions and a global call to action to address the critical environmental challenges facing the world today.

Up to twenty-five private sector organisations will have the unique opportunity to demonstrate their premier clean tech innovations to 1,200 high-level participants including Heads of State, Ministers, UN leadership, heads of development banks, and civil society leaders from around the world.

The Sustainable Innovation Expo at UNEA, organised by Climate Action and the UN Environment Programme, will include exclusive workshops, panel sessions and business symposia for technology companies to showcase their climate change solutions to key international decision-makers from around the world. Organisations that have previously been involved with UNEA include ABB, Alstom, GE, HP, Microsoft, Philips and Siemens.
