June the 5th is World Environment Day 2008: Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy
Recognising that climate change is becoming the defining issue of our era, UNEP is asking countries, companies and communities to focus on greenhouse gas emissions and how to reduce them. The World Environment Day will highlight resources and initiatives that promote low carbon economies and life-styles, such as improved energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, forest conservation and eco-friendly consumption.

A day in a low carbon life: What might it be like to lead a business in 2012?
This article from IBM describes a day in the life of a fictional Chief Executive Officer, preparing to face market analysts in 2012. The intention is to explore the challenges business leaders might face doing business in a low carbon economy.

Sustainable United Nations (SUN)

Determine the financial implications of a Green initiative before you invest
Enterprise planning can help a company project the financial implications of green initiatives to optimise business return. Performance Management can be used to model environmental factors to create and compare multiple "what-if" scenarios, test assumptions, assess the impact of events and adapt the business to meet specific corporate responsibility objectives. Leveraging planning capabilities can help a company balance its financial obligations to key stakeholders with its moral obligation to be a good environmental steward.
Take the Infor Green Assessment survey for a subjective analysis and benchmarking of your company's sustainability efforts and to access tools and information to improve your Green capabilities.

Leading telecom company discus key environmental issues
Energy use and climate change, materials and waste are the key environmental issues for Ericsson. Ericsson uses four central principles to understand those impacts and address them with a consistent and methodical approach: Environmental Management Systems, Life-Cycle Assessment, and Design for Environment and Ecology Management.
The company is focusing on sustainable innovations and techniques to optimise energy efficiency at every step of product and solution development. For example, Ericsson is helping mobile operators improve the energy-efficiency of their radio networks through delivering energy-efficient products, providing optimal network design and introducing the innovative use of alternative energy sources to run these networks. It is also examining how telecommunications can have broader benefits to society by helping to create a more carbon lean economy, by offering solutions which replace physical travel and products.
