The World Green Building Council, the United States Green Building Council and the C40 Cities Climate Change Leadership Group, a global network of cities committed to climate change action, are collaborating on innovative green building solutions.

The WorldGBC and USGBC will provide the C40 cities with green building technical assistance, policy, education and training, and tools and resources.

Buildings consume about 40 per cent of the world’s energy and represent approximately 30 per cent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Buildings are the major greenhouse gas emitters in cities and  account for nearly 80 per cent of these harmful gases.

Improved efficiency in the building industry is not only perceived as a crucial opportunity to generate energy savings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but it is also seen also the most lucrative option.
