Swedish energy giant Vattenfall will start building its first solar park in the UK in January, as part of a project to boost the potential of its existing UK sites.

The new Parc Cynog Solar Farm in Wales will be located on the site of a Vattenfall wind farm and the company said the new solar installation will start producing power in March.

Vattenfall said in a statement that co-locating wind and solar power installations makes “technical sense”.

The new solar project will use the same grid connection as the wind farm which will reduce connection costs.
