The Seychelles and Gambia have signed the Paris Agreement on climate action, bringing the total number of signatories to 177.
The Agreement was opened for signature at an official ceremony in New York on Friday to coincide with Earth Day 2016.
The Seychelles signed the on Monday with Gambia following on Tuesday.
The Agreement still needs to be ratified by at least 55 countries covering 55 per cent of global carbon emissions to come into force.
Fifteen states have currently deposited their instruments of ratification remains: Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Somalia, State of Palestine, Barbados, Belize, Fiji, Grenada, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Samoa, Tuvalu, Maldives, Saint Lucia, and Mauritius.
