The National Trust has formed a new partnership with Panasonic UK and the move will enable the conservation charity to use more energy efficient products and embrace sustainability.

Panasonic will install innovative green technology across many historic properties that belong to the charity and staff at the National Trust will be equipped with the tech giants appliances.

According to reports, technology improvements being considered include LED light installations, air source heat pumps and solar panels.

The new technologies could help the National Trust achieve its target to reduce energy consumption by 20 per cent and cut fossil fuel use by 50 per cent by 2020.

The National Trust manages historical land and properties across the UK as well as 250,000 hectares of countryside.

Andrew Denham, managing director at Panasonic UK, said: “Panasonic is committed to creating a better life and a better world by contributing to the development of a sustainable future, working in harmony with the global environment and society. As such, we are very excited to be working with the National Trust to improve the overall sustainability of its heritage properties and outdoor sites.”

Our staff and volunteers will now be able to capture, film and share images and stories of the special places we care for using Panasonic’s state-of-the-art cameras. Many of our rangers, who work in some of the remotest parts of the country, will be equipped with the latest notebooks to help them keep on top of their conservation work, looking after our beautiful landscapes. And we’ll work with Panasonic to see how we could cut energy usage at some of properties.”

The long term partnership will also enable Panasonic to showcase its technologies.

The new partnership follows an alliance that was formed between National Trust and Good Energy, a green energy provider.

The target of the alliance to is to install renewable energy projects at 43 of the charity’s properties.
