World’s leading sports and live entertainment company, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), has announced a new target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The new science-based target has been specified in the 2016 AEG Sustainability Report, along with the company’s commitment to reduce its emissions and overall environmental footprint.

Since 2010, AEG has already succeeded in reducing its emissions by 13 per cent each year.

Other AEG achievements include London's The O2 becoming the third AEG site to reach 100 per cent sourcing of renewable electricity, reducing annual potable water consumption by 27 million litres at water-stressed sites from 2010 to 2015, and Los Angeles Convention Centre becoming the largest US convention centre to achieve a LEED Gold recertification in 2015.

In its report, the company highlights a new set of goals for 2020, including reducing its total GHG emissions by 3.2 per cent per year from 2010 to 2020, reducing potable water use at water-stressed sites by 2.3 per cent per year from 2010 to 2020, and diverting 70 per cent of waste from landfill across all operations by 2020.

John Marler, Senior Director of Energy and Environment for AEG, said: "We are excited to share another chapter of our sustainability story and to announce AEG's new 2020 Environmental Goals. We put a lot of thought into these goals and I hope our story inspires further action on the important issues of greenhouse gas reduction, potable water conservation, and waste reduction."
