The World Annual Sailing Conference gathers the stakeholders of the sailing world to discuss the strategy of sailing, and will this year be focused on the theme: “Our Sustainable Future”.

As the sport is so deeply affected by climate change and ocean pollution, leaders have noted the necessity of addressing plans for the future.

The conference will focus on the broad topic of ‘a healthy future for sailing’, and implementation measures and sustainability in the waters of the world will be discussed.

This year’s conference will be held in Barcelona, Spain, on 5-13 November with around 700 delegates from International Class Associations, Member National Authorities, Sailors, Event Organizers, Boat Manufacturers and Observers.

Three forums will be held as part of the conference about Sustainability, Commercial Strategy for the Sport and Para World Sailing.

The sustainability forum will have speakers from Formula E, sailing Team BAR, Blueshift, the Golf Environment Organisation, Bristlecone Strategies and World Sailing.

World Sailing CEO Andy Hunt said: "The introduction of three new forums to World Sailing's Annual Conference is the start of a process to modernise the meeting into a professional, engaging and interactive event.”

He added: "Under the overarching theme of Our Sustainable Future, delegates will be able to engage, share best practice, be inspired to make positive change and make our sport more sustainable from a number of dimensions.”
