Indonesia to ban CFCs and methyl bromide from 2008
Indonesia becomes the second Southeast Asian country to meet obligations to reduce the use of refrigerants that contribute to global warming ahead of schedule.
Indonesia will impose a ban on the import of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and methyl bromide in January 2008, putting the country two years ahead of the 2010 schedule for phase-out of ozone-depleting substances under the Montreal Protocol.
The ban makes Indonesia one of the first few countries in the region to meet its deadline of the CFC phase out ahead of schedule. Read more…
