Ghana’s biggest solar PV project comes online

Ghana’s biggest solar photovoltaic project has been connected to the West African country’s grid.
The 20 MW solar installation was developed by the Chinese firm Beijing Xiaocheng Company at a cost of US$30 million.
The move represents another example of increasing collaboration between Chinese firms and African states.
Ghana is currently in the midst of an “energy crisis”, further increasing the importance of the new solar project.
The country’s previously largest solar PV project of 2 MW and is located around 70 kilometres from the capital Accra (pictured).
The project is listed by BXC as having a 40 MW capacity, suggesting that the firm is planning on doubling the project’s generation capacity.
