Enel Green Power is investing $220 million in a wind farm in Mexico.

The renewables unit of Italian company Enel has started construction of the 100-megawatt facility in the North-Central state of Zacatecas and the project is expected to start operating in the second half of 2016, according to company statement on Tuesday.

The project will produce enough electricity to power an estimated 161,000 homes.

Enel Green Power has a total installed capacity of about 400-megawatts in Mexico, of which about 346 megawatts are from wind power.
