El Salvador has announced an auction for the allocation of 150 megawatts of renewable energy capacity.

The auction will see utility company Delsur offer 100 megawatts of solar power and 50 megawatts of wind energy capacity.

Projects commissioned after the auction will become operational by 2018, according to media reports.

El Salvador’s National Energy Council announced the auction of 150 megawatts of renewable energy projects last year.

The South American country last conducted a similar auction in 2014, when it offered 100 megawatts capacity with 94 megawatts capacity was commissioned to solar power projects.
