Ocean Polymers are developing an innovative solution to tackle the worldwide ocean plastic pollution problem.  Ocean plastic pollution is becoming a serious global problem. Currently, an estimated 12.7 million tonnes of plastic end up in our oceans each year. This has resulted in over 267 species worldwide being affected and 700 species at risk of becoming extinct. It has also been reported that over 90% of seabirds have plastic in their stomach.

The company aim to bring advanced plasma treatment facilities to the ocean’s plastic problem. They propose their solution could provide revenue and profit while tackling an important global environmental issue by removing this harmful plastic by using ship-based recycling and manufacturing. They also aim to have land-based solutions once operational.

Ocean Polymers have a funding target of £750,000 and they are currently at £403,000 on their final day of funding on Crowdcube, the British crowd funding platform who have facilitated more crowd funding rounds and investments than any other UK platform.
