Ethical Corporation has produced a new FT500 report exploring how major GHG emissions reporting protocols and standards measure up. The report, researched and written by the Ethical Corporation Institute has been designed to help sustainability directors to decide on the best GHG emissions metrics and verification standards for their company - based on what’s currently going on across industry.
An team of researchers have been working on the project since November 2007, gathering information on how each of the current FT500 companies have been reporting their GHG emissions for the past five years; the time and cost burdens of employing specific standards; Government recommendations and regulations for GHG emissions reporting and how major stakeholders perceive the various standards.Commenting on the reason behind the report, Caryl Williams, Head of Research at Ethical Corporation stated:
“We conducted a lot of research prior to starting work on the report and it’s obvious that reporting on GHG emissions is one of the most complex and unpredictable challenges currently facing Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability executives. We hope that this report will help cut through a lot of that complexity by presenting clear results on which standards other companies are actually using – and quantified feedback on how employing different standards effect stakeholder’s perception of companies”
