The firm Ambienta is aiming to invest around €300m in an environmental fund through which it will invest in European companies and promote energy efficient gas, wastewater and pollution management technologies.

The firm hopes to reach a first round target of €100m by June and will look to leverage demand for energy-saving natural gas burners and generators as use of the fuel becomes more popular.

The firm confirmed it was carrying out pre-marketing for Ambienta II to NewNet in September 2012.

The investor has its headquarters in Milan and opened a hub in Germany last year.

Last year, it also brought in venture specialist and former Siemens Venture Capital executive Rudolf Ohnesorge to run its German branch and he told NewNet the fund would look to capitalise on the firm’s now pan-European capability.
