Founded as a chemical company in Japan, Kaneka is renowned as a leading company in the field of thin film solar module manufacturing. Our solar panels can be used in a variety of lighting and temperature conditions and have been successfully installed in many countries. Our customers are confident in our products and our reliability. Customer satisfaction is our top priority. Kaneka’s solar products can be used for many different projects in locations around the world.

When Kaneka was founded, our main product lines included soap, cosmetics, edible oils and electric wiring. But as Kaneka grew, we started to concentrate on Research and Development and began looking ahead to the rapidly changing global market. Today Kaneka’s main product lines include chemicals, functional and expandable plastics products, foodstuffs, life science products and synthetic fibers as well as solar energy modules. Kaneka researchers, develops and manufactures its own solar panels leveraging our advanced materials knowledge and our core competency as a chemical manufacturer for over 60 years.

Kaneka has been contributing to the Research and Development efforts of the thin film solar cells for more than 30 years to better the lives of people all over the world. We research, develop and manufacture with the intent of marketing our thin film silicon solar panels world wide. As one of the leading Japanese chemical manufacturer and a pioneer of the thin film solar panel, Kaneka’s technology is well renowned and our products are already in use in many countries.

Kaneka’s advanced thin-film modules are unique compared to traditional crystalline products. The cell structure is less susceptible to shadow and it offers greater design flexibility for a variety of applications. The color integrates easily into most exterior designs and it has a shorter energy payback time which provides production and resource savings. Kaneka offers not only amorphous silicon modules, but also the new Hybrid solar modules. Kaneka’s Hybrid solar panel has a tandem structure that absorbs both the blue and red ends of the light spectrum allowing it to convert even more of the sun’s light into energy. This enhances the efficiency of power generation, and produces up to 30% higher power output than conventional thin film amorphous silicon panels. The hybrid delivers greater performance capabilities and offers a lower open circuit voltage for enhanced design flexibility.

We continue to expand our Research and Development efforts to drive innovation and the creation of next generation products.
