ACEEE carries out its mission by:

Conducting in-depth technical and policy analyses
Advising policymakers and program managers
Working collaboratively with businesses, government officials, public interest groups, and other organizations
Convening conferences and workshops, primarily for energy efficiency professionals
Assisting and encouraging the media to cover energy efficiency policy and technology issues
Educating businesses and consumers through our reports, books, conference proceedings, media outreach, and Web site
 
ACEEE was founded in 1980 by leading researchers in the energy field. Since then we have grown to a staff of more than 30. Projects are carried out by ACEEE staff and collaborators from government, the private sector, research institutions, and other nonprofit organizations. ACEEE's program areas include:

Energy Policy (primarily federal and state)
Research (including programs on Buildings and Equipment, Utilities, Industry & Agriculture, Transportation, Economic Analysis, and International )
Communications (including Conferences, Publications, and Development, including our Ally Program)
In our nearly 30 years, we have accomplished a great deal. This record of accomplishment has helped establish ACEEE as America’s leading center of expertise on energy efficiency with a reputation for quality, credibility, the applicability of our work, and our bipartisan approach. ACEEE’s technical work is widely relied upon by policymakers, business and industry decision-makers, consumers, the media, and other energy professionals.
