Water, Megacities and Global Change

Water, Megacities and Global Change

The Water, Megacities and Global Change conference organised by ARCEAU IdF and devoted to the theme of water in megacities, will be hosted by UNESCO in its Paris HQ, 2015 - December 1st to 4th, during the first week of the COP21.

Since 2011 and for the first time in its history, the world population as a whole is now mainly concentrated in urban centers. In 2025, more than one billion people will be living in about one hundred very large cities. Megacities, those cities with more than 10 million people, are multiplying rapidly.

Beyond demographic issues, climate change in these megacities will require very important measures for adaptation  and profound transformations to avert potential coming crises like: access to water and sanitation for all, service equity, economic viability, solutions flexibility, and innovative response to unprecedented evolution

EcoMobility World Festival 2015

EcoMobility World Festival 2015

The EcoMobility World Festival 2015 will take place in Sandton, Johannesburg – the vibrant heart of South Africa – in October. The Festival will offer a view of the City in the future, with active street life and social inclusivity, served by a sustainable transport system. The Festival will enable residents and visitors from across the globe to experience what a future, car-free precinct would look and feel like. A core part of the Sandton CBD use will be closed for regular traffic for the duration of the Festival. A comprehensive traffic management plan is in place to minimise the temporary impact of disruptions and to keep the public informed about alternative arrangements. he world’s leading thinkers on EcoMobility and urban transport will participate in a series of Dialogues during the week of 5 to 9 October 2015. Between 300 and 500 people are expected to join the Dialogues that will be held at the IDC Conference Centre in Sandton.

Climate Week NYC 2015

Climate Week NYC 2015

Leaders from business and sub-national governments will come together this September, to showcase their transformational action and commitments at Climate Week NYC 2015. Using the high-profile international platform, they will leave national policymakers with no doubt that there is overwhelming demand for an ambitious global deal to be made at climate talks in Paris in December. With UN discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals taking place during the same week in New York City, Climate Week NYC 2015 will also provide a complementary opportunity to highlight how climate action and low carbon growth will benefit today’s economy without compromising future generations. Join us at Climate Week NYC 2015 from September 21-28, to meet the leaders of our new, low carbon economy.
