UNEP's Executive Director and Under Secretary General of the United Nations, Achim Steiner, spoke to Climate Action about the leadership role of business in the fight against climate change and the challenge of challenge of sustainable development.
Erik Solheim, former Norwegian Minister of Environment and International Development, is currently Chairman of the Development Assistance Committee for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Devlopment (OECD). He was appointed UNEP Special Envoy in January 2013 to deal with issues relating to UNEP's sub-programme for Disasters and Conflicts.
Mr Solheim spoke to Climate Action and highlighted some of the challenges for Norway in reducing carbon emissions.
Pavan Sukhdev was Special Adviser and Head of UNEP’s Green Economy Initiative, a major UN project suite to demonstrate that the greening of economies is not a burden on growth but rather a new engine for growing wealth, increasing decent employment, and reducing persistent poverty. This project published its final report in February 2011, “Towards a Green Economy”, which was widely appreciated by governments in both developed and developing nations.
Mr Sukhdev spoke to Climate Action about the Initiative and how it has helped to change the way businesses and industry view the green growth agenda.
