    Our highly skilled team works with UNEP and other UN agencies and key multi-lateral organisations in the Climate Change space, to create leading business forums including the Sustainable Innovation Forum held alongside the annual UNFCCC Climate Negotiations and the Sustainable Innovation Expo at the United Nations Environment Assembly at UNEPs’ Nairobi headquarters.

    The role:

    Based in London and reporting to the Commercial Director, the Business Development Manager will be selling high level sponsorship for a portfolio of leading forums, publications and digital content resources. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to travel globally and network with senior representatives from the public and private sectors.



    • Clear, demonstrable understanding of the full sales process from research to closing sales
    • Minimum 3 years sales experience, preferably in Sponsorship or similar professional services
    • Ability to secure large and complex deals through understanding the customers objectives
    • Excellent relationship builder and negotiator with consultative sales approach
    • Articulate, intelligent and well presented with strong telephone and face to face communications skills
    • Ability to build and manage sales pipeline
    • Strong organisational and time management skills
    • Hard working with a high pace of work
    • Entrepreneurial attitude, ambitious and financially driven
    • Strong believer in continuous training and self-development


    Main duties and responsibilities:

    • Maximising revenue through sales of sponsorship on events, digital and print portfolio
    • Researching and canvassing for leads using social media and competitor information
    • Closing high value, complex deals ranging from £30K - £100K and hitting personal sales targets
    • Gathering product and company feedback from clients and prospects
    • Developing relationships and conducting face to face meetings with key decision makers
    • Travelling internationally to attend Climate Action and industry events as required
    • Working directly with the Research Team and Commercial Director to develop a deep understanding of the industry
    • Negotiating with clients
    • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and partners
    • Working directly with the Researchers and Marketing teams to generate new sales leads
    • Work collaboratively with the operational function to ensure cohesive communication with clients and effective delivery on site
    • Ensuring all sales administration is completed and databases updated


    • Interest in the climate change and environment sectors
    • Experience in the environment, renewable energy and/or sustainability sectors
    • Knowledge of SPIN or similar sales theory
    • Experience with CRM
    • French or other additional language skills



    Competitive salary + excellent uncapped commission with an OTE of £70k.
